In the world of the spirit, there is a challenger, acounterfeit, an opponent of God who knows hisbusiness. But there is also the armor ofGod, the Word of God and the power to defeatthis opponent. The Bible says to resist Satan, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). But whena man hesitates—not opposing, but wondering—then Satan can easily defeat him. We mustclearly distinguish between what is comingfrom Satan and not blame God for somethingthat is not His doing. This is why it is soextremely important to rightly divide the Wordconcerning this issue.
Whenever God reveals His Word to a man,Satan comes immediately to steal the Wordfrom his heart. Jesus said that he would. Hesaid the sower sows the Word, and Satancomes immediately to take away the Wordwhich was sown. (See Mark 4.)Satan has no defense against the Wordof God. He has no defense against the lordshipof Jesus or the Name of Jesus. He has no defenseagainst the bornagain believer who is walking infaith and acting on the Word of God. He has no defenseagainst these because Jesus said that all powerhas been given unto Him both in heaven andin earth (Matthew 28:18). Satan has beenstripped of his power.
The devil knows he is defenseless, so inorder to stop the revelation of God’s Word inthe believer, his only tool is deception. Hemust sow a deception—something that soundsgood and looks good but is really a wolf insheep’s clothing, He usually does this mostsuccessfully in the area of religion. He usesreligion to blind and deceive the people. Bysowing the seed of deception through religioustradition, Satan has robbed the Church of herpower. He has no defense against our realspiritual weapons, but he can easily defendhimself against our carnal, religious traditions.
